The news of Devil May Cry 4 being released on the PS3's main competitor's platform, the Microsoft Xbox 360 -- not to mention the PC too -- which was revealed just a few days on Devil May Cry.org (Devil May Cry 4 goes multi-platform! PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) originally came as quite a shock as Devil May Cry 4 was considered to be one of the Sony PS3's essential upcoming killer-titles; and losing it's exclusive status can only spell bad news for Sony.
However, now Capcom has even more to contend with where angry PS3 fans are concerned, as they have gone so far as to create an online petition whereby fans around the world are adding their signature to a growing list of fans who are threatening to boycott all future Capcom titles unless Devil May Cry 4 resumes its exclusive status for the Sony Playstation 3.
Capcom's senior director of strategic planning and research, Christian Svensson, recently replied to a thread that was created within the official Capcom forums entitled 'What are you thinking, Capcom?' and stated:
"We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers."
The thread was later locked but the compilation of signatures appears to still be gradually growing; the petition has reached a grand total of 8,119 signatures so far.
